Bowls, bowls, bowls.
I’ve been throwing a lot of medium sized bowls lately — and I can’t seem to stop.
It all started with a request. My first official commission, actually, for some cereal bowls. I hadn’t made many bowls fit to eat a proper meal from, and so I had a bit of a think about it. What size, what profile, what style?
Also part of the challenge: making multiple bowls of the same size. I’d sort of done that before, during the great condiment bowl saga of late January, but this was a little different because I wasn’t just experimenting.
My brain works like a dog refusing to let go of a chew toy, and so I’ve made dozens of bowls over the last few weeks — all in the name of making a set of cereal bowls I’d be proud to deliver for my first special order. Perfectionism is a curse I’ve learned to live with, but hopefully I’ll be free from the quest for the perfect bowl sometime soon. Luckily, I do have some cool new glazes to try out, and have found myself with a few dozen extra bowls in need of glazing.
